(Rubber) Dance with Me!

The summer holiday season may nearly be over but I am still feeling in the holiday mood (probably because I haven't managed to have one this year!).

So for this week's make I am harking back to a lovely holiday in Lanzarote. You may not know about me that my other love is gemstones and I adore making real gemstone jewellery. So imagine my joy when I discovered that the gem Peridot is all over the beaches in Lanzarote, contained within the lava rock!

I created this little box to keep my precious salvaged Peridot in a special place.

I stamped the box all over with the gorgeous sea mesh and created a topper for the lid using a collage of different stamps from the Retro Beach set. I coloured the top with Peacock Feathers, Bundled Sage and Salty Ocean inks then stamped parts of various images to make my own collage. The bookplate is treated with Distress Paint and Treasure Gold to give it a faux patina.

Inside the box are my keepsakes and memories.

The inside top has a tiny little mini book with the story behind my keepsakes written inside.

The inside bottom of the box has my collected treasures!

Hope this got you in the holiday mood!

Here are the stunning stamps I used:

Until next time,
Katy x

  2. Soo beautiful, Katy,

I love your little treasure box. It's a treasure all by itself (although I love its content too ;).

  3. Stunning!!! I love it!! My goodness me, this is GORGEOUS!!! :-)))) I wish I had made a box like that (never too late, though!) to keep MY Periodot gems from Lanzarote!! Oh, I love that island. Been there twice and picked lava with "olivine" gems both times, of course :-))) What a funny coincidence! Thank you for using my beach stamps for this project. It ROCKS!!! (haha, no pun intended...)

  4. Stunning work Katy to produce the most personal and precious box of memories as well as treasures. I love how you've paid as much attention to the inside as the out, and the idea of having a little book inside is perfect. Jenny x
