In the nick of time - Tim's Tag August!

Really quickie post today - made my Tim's Tag for August at the 11th hour! I didn't do all the techniques but created my tag in the same style. I did actually die cut the background but you can't really see it now I added so much embellishment!

I do like this couple - they're kind of creepy!

Winter Wishes

Well, I wasn't lucky enough to be picked for the Noor! UK DT but I had the Christmas die cuts to hand so I created another card to enter into the Noor Monthly Challenge - theme Christmas (you might have guessed that!).

It uses Joycrafts dies, Evergreen Bough and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks, DecoArt Media silver metallic paint and a touch of glitter. Just a simple but pretty layered card.

A Little Bit of Layout Love

Oh my, it's been a while since I did any scrapbooking! But I do go to a crop once a month (hello Moxley mates!) and I thought it was about time that I used that time for the allotted purpose! I created two layouts in a day - which for me is pretty good going. I am not the world's fastest crafter!

My first layout is a romantic wedding layout. I used some very old papers by BoBunny called The Avenues. This is a simple LO but has lots of layers. Firstly, spray ink flicked onto the paper, then texture pasted stencilled and highlighted with ColourArte Silk Glaze in Golden Monarch. Then I added torn paper and corrugated card (the card also has a swipe of the Silk colour), various fussy cut elements, twine and trim and brads. The last layer has the photo and some flowers. My word is painted with the Silks again to tie it into the page. I love the subtle colour and sheen of the Silks - goes well with my romantic feel.

In contrast my second layout is much more contemporary in feel. Again I used spray inks (Distress brand), creating the background by applying the inks loosely with a wide brush. Once dry I added a load of splatters (fun!!!). Colours are Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough. The stamps (pilfered from my fellow Moxley-er's - as I had not packed any. WHAT???) are Hampton Art and IndigoBlu. Then I just layered up some die cuts, tags and elements cut from paper.

This is the first layout I've done of our new fur baby, Jet. He is very smiley :).

I enjoyed this change of scene and hope you do too :)

It's my turn to do a tutorial today over on the Rubber Dance blog. So if you'd like to find out how I made this card with vellum panel then pop on over!

I also created a little ATC using the same simple stamping method - this was created as a reminder for the Rubber Dance challenge - still lots of time to enter - the moodboard is below and the (optional) theme is In the Garden. Follow the link for all the info you need. Hope you can play along.

Bye for now,

By the Sea with Rubber Dance

I've gone small today with a little teeny display piece created using Tim Holtz's Mini Cabinet Card die for Sizzix as a background and decorated with - you guessed it! - Rubber Dance stamps.

The New Retro Beach set is a recent re-release from Bibi of an old favourite set of mine. I figured August was my last chance to use it this year before the dreaded Xmas makes kick in. Well, it IS still summer :).

I used a lot of stamping on the background but started with a base of patterned paper by Kaisercraft. I love using paper as base for layering onto as it gives that little touch more depth. I stamped it with various images from the Rubber Dance set and added some light spritzing with Distress Spray Stain in Evergreen Bough. At the top of each panel is a cut out painted shell which is outlined with Pumice Stone Distress Ink to make it pop a little bit. Onto this I place some mesh ribbon and some metal corners aged with white gesso,

My focal images are stamped onto the same patterned paper I used for the background, then lightly tinted with watered-down Distress Inks - I used Broken China, Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo. The photo mat is also distressed. The panels are added to the background with some stamped words (the Dymo style ones) and shells, plus some real shells.

I've enjoyed my last make of summer - hope you like it and the sun is shining where you are :).

Another month - another Rubber Dance challenge!

Yep it's August already (anyone know where July went?) - which means it's time for another challenge at Rubber Dance! Our colours are bright and gorgeous this month - to celebrate the August sunshine! Our (optional) theme is In the Garden.

Click here for the full details. You could win this pile of gorgeous, wonderful rubber stamps!!!

For my challenge make I created a set of 4x4 mini cards using a variety of Rubber Dance stamps. I used a loose watercolour technique with Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry. I love this technique cos it doesn't matter if you go outside the lines!

I hope you'll join our challenge - can't wait to see what you make :)
