Time for another That's Crafty! Challenge and the theme this time is All Square. I've made a quick square card with a square stencil and a twinchie embellishment.
1 On a 4" square card blank, stencil the squares with Mustard Seed Distress Ink. Add splatters of Bora Bora PaperArtsy paint with a splatter brush.
2 Run a painty finger around the edge to make a border. When dry add a doodled black border with pen.
3 Stamp the Dina Wakley stamp (All the Gals set) onto a scrap of monoprinted card. Edge with Bora Bora paint and add some details with white gel pen and a doodled border. Stamp and add the sentiment.
And that's it - quick and simple today. Have fun in the challenge and good luck!
We are using our crackle for the latest That's Crafty challenge and I’ve created a distressed tag
using the fantastic crackle paint from DecoArt. This is a great crackle
product, it’s really sturdy and cracks really well. The secret is to get a nice
even coverage that isn’t too thin and to use a darker colour on your base layer
which will show through the cracks.

To finish I just added a circular wash of yellow paints, some stamped images, some background stamping and a computer-generated piece of text.

Liking this That's Crafty challenge muchly as I do like my crackle! I've used a couple of crackle mediums on this little ATC plus an Andy Skinner crackly stamp, for good measure! I used a chipboard ATC as it can take all the wet mediums without complaining!
Sorry I didn't get step pics (too dark at 3am!!!) but here's how I created it.
1) Prime the ATC with gesso then paint in Cobalt Teal Hue - this is the colour that will show through the cracks.
2) For the crackle on the background I used Andy Skinner's Mega Crackle technique for which you can find a video here. Apply Weathered Wood and let dry completely, Mix Crackle Paint with a small amount of Metallic Gold paint and paint over the dry Weathered Wood, leave to crack.
3) Add some stencilling using Cobalt Teal Hue mixed with Tinting Base to make it more opaque. Add stamping in Coffee and black inks.
4) Paint a piece of card with Crackle Paint and when dry paint in Pyrrole Red. Stamp with the heart (Darcy). Add a wash of Metallic Gold over the top and cut out.
5) Add the heart and embellishments to the ATC.
If you haven't used them I'd really encourage you to play and experiment with them, as they are great fun to use and you can create quite a variety of effects.

Sharing a couple of makes for the That's Crafty Challenge Blog team today. The latest challenge theme is Zest Zing - so we want to see those bright summer shades!
I created a tag and a card for the challenge, using the same materials (listed below). Each is pretty simple using paint and stamping, along with a little bit of stencilled detail.

It's challenge time at That's Crafty and I'm delighted to have been invited to be on the Challenge DT, making my debut today. The theme for this challenge is birds - I love birds so not too tricky for me this one. You can find all the challenge details here.
Here's how I made my birdie tag:
1) Swipe a white tag with a Tumbled Glass inkpad, applying lightly and randomly.
2) Add details with the That's Crafty stencil and Broken China ink applied through it with a sponge or Cut-n-Dry Foam.
3) Stamp the leaves with Archival Leaf Green.
4) Stamp the birdie and 'Tweet. Chirp' in black onto the tag.
5) Stamp the bird again onto patterned paper, ink with Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed inks and add some detail with a white gel pen.
6) Stamp the phrase, edge with Broken China ink and glue in place as shown.
7) Finally, edge the tag lightly with Ripe Persimmon and Hickory Smoke inks.

It was a beautiful weekend here and on Sunday I sat in the garden watching the bees feast on our rhododendron flowers. I think the sun made me get out the bright colours out and I spent a happy day in the craft room yesterday and made this, featuring my fave all time stamp, Stampotique's Big Bee.
Inspiration sometimes comes from unexpected places and the inspiration behind this piece was some packaging material that came out of IKEA furniture..... My strange mind saw this and thought - honeycomb! So of course I squirreled it into that box of stuff marked 'too good to throw away!'
I sprayed the packaging with yellow and gold spray inks before tearing it off the backing and into pieces. Love the organic look! My bees have acetate wings covered with Stickles and White Fire Treasure Gold on the reverse so they really shimmer. I also added a domed body to give them some extra dimension. My original concept for this piece didn't include the sunflower - the SSS Challenge inspired me to add that detail and I think it finishes the piece really nicely.
